Mosquitoes, spiders and other insects. They sometimes leave ugly stains in your sails. With the steps below your sails will be as new.

Remove mosquito stains from sail cloth as follows:

  1. Fill a container, wheelie bin, tub or rain barrel with lukewarm water (30 degrees Celsius).
  2. Add 30 grams of Sail Cleaner (1 scoop) per 1 litre of lukewarm water and mix.
  3. Fold or roll up the sail.
  4. Leave the sail submerged for at least 24 hours.
  5. Remove the sail from the tub
  6. Place it on a clean surface (building tarp)
  7. Remove detached grime and the sail cleaner with a soft brush and plenty of water.
  8. Roll the sail up again and let it soak again overnight.
  9. Bring the water up to temperature again by adding extra hot water
  10. Finally, rinse the sail well.
  11. Allow the sail to dry. This is possible on board on a windless day.

Warning!

Ultramar Sail Cleaner is not suitable for spinnaker cloth. It is possible that coloured sails, UV strips or telltales will not be colour-fast. First try this on a small piece of cloth.
