What should I do if the canvas is still dirty after I have cleaned it with the Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo?

If you can still see dirt after you have used the Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo, use the Power Cleaner. It is an extra powerful cleaner.

As you have already cleaned the surface with the Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo, all the Power Cleaner needs to do is soak into the stubborn stains. Leave the Power Cleaner to soak in for a nice long time and then rinse the stain remover from the surface with a generous amount of water..

CAUTION!! The Power Cleaner is a stronger cleaning agent. Try it out on a small inconspicuous area first.

How large a surface area can I clean with the Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo?

This always depends on the kind of canvas. A cotton tent canvas absorbs more shampoo than a boat cover canvas, which also contains plastic.

On average, you can count on using 1 litre of Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo to clean 6-14m² of canvas.

Do I need to wet the tent canvas before cleaning it?

Yes. Clean the tent with clean, lukewarm water first. This already removes some of the dirt and the canvas will absorb the Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo better.

Does it matter if the Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo touches the plastic windows?

No. You can also clean the windows of your boat cover or tent using Ultramar’s Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo.

Sprayhood & Tent Protector

Does it matter if the Sprayhood & Tent Protector touches the plastic windows?

It won’t do any damage, but make sure you wipe off the window film using a damp cloth after impregnating. Once the impregnation agent has dried, small marks may appear on the windows. You can easily remove these marks using Ultramar’s Plastic Window Cleaner & Protector.

Should the canvas be dry before I start applying the impregnation agent?

Yes. Make sure that the canvas is dry before you start applying the impregnation agent.

What is the difference between the Sprayhood & Tent Protector and the Canvas & Cotton Protector?

They are both impregnation agents developed to treat specific types of fabric.
● The Sprayhood & Tent Protector is specially developed for woven plastic or canvas that contains plastic, such as a polyester tent, boat cover or convertible roof.
● The Canvas & Cotton Protector is specially developed for canvas with cotton fibres, such as a cotton tent.

How large a surface area can I impregnate with the Sprayhood & Tent Protector?

This always depends on the kind of canvas. Generally speaking, a sturdy boat cover absorbs more impregnation agent than a thin tent canvas. On average, you can count on using 1 litre of Sprayhood & Tent Protector to impregnate 6-14m² of canvas.

Can I use the Sprayhood & Tent Protector in the sunshine?

Yes. Warmth and sunlight increase the effectiveness of the Sprayhood & Tent Protector. Feel free to leave the canvas to dry in the sun after you have impregnated it.

Power Cleaner

What is the difference between the Power Cleaner and the Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo?

Both products have been developed for removing specific stains.
● The Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo removes surface dirt.
● The Power Cleaner removes stubborn stains.

For the best result, follow our three-step plan for cleaning.

How long should I leave the Power Cleaner to soak in?

The Power Cleaner’s absorption time depends on how stubborn the stains are. It may take sometime.

Apply the Power Cleaner to the surface in question and brush it in. You can leave it to soak in for a few hours, until all of the stains have disappeared. If the stains have not entirely disappeared after the first treatment, you can repeat the process.

Can I use the Power Cleaner on a cotton tent canvas?

Yes. The Power Cleaner is an extra powerful canvas cleaner and is suitable for cotton tent canvases.

Test the Power Cleaner on a small section of canvas first. The Power Cleaner may have a slight bleaching effect on some tent fabric types.

Can I just use Power Cleaner to clean the canvas?

No. You should always clean the surface with the Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo first. Always use the Power Cleaner as step 2.

That way, you will get less colour difference because you have also cleaned the cloth in step 1. Also, the Power Cleaner is more effective because everything has already been cleaned once with shampoo. This is because the shampoo tackles dirt that the Power Cleaner does not.

Why do I need to apply the Power Cleaner multiple times?

By applying the Power Cleaner several times, you loosen any stubborn stains from the tent canvas. The Power Cleaner even gets extremely dirty boat covers, tents and awnings clean.

Canvas & Cotton Protector

How much impregnation agent do I need in order to make a cotton tent watertight?
