Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo – Verbruik, inhoud en verpakking

Want to know how much Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo you need? Here you can read which size fits your fabric and why it is wise not to order too little.

How much Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo do I need?

This depends on three factors:

  • the size of the fabric
  • the type of material
  • the level of contamination

As a general guideline:

  • Boat cover or convertible roof: approximately 1 litre
  • Awning or medium-sized tent: approximately 2.5 litres
  • Large tent or heavily soiled fabric: 2.5 to 5 litres

These are average estimates. In practice, usage may be higher with older or heavily contaminated fabrics.

Is 1 litre of Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo enough?

1 litre is often sufficient for:

  • an average boat cover
  • a fabric convertible roof
  • a smaller awning

If you have a larger surface or the fabric has not been cleaned for a long time, 2.5 litres is usually a safer choice.

When should I choose 2.5 litres or 5 litres?

Choose 2.5 litres if you:

  • want to clean an awning or larger tent
  • are cleaning multiple items at once
  • want to make sure you have enough product

Choose 5 litres if you:

  • maintain a large tent or several fabrics
  • clean regularly
  • do not want to run out during the cleaning process

During cleaning, you should be able to work generously. Using too little product can reduce the final result.

Why does older or heavily soiled fabric use more shampoo?

Older or weathered fabric often has more open fibres.

Dirt may also be embedded deeper in the material. This means more shampoo is needed to loosen and remove the contamination properly.

Fabrics that have not been cleaned for a long time usually require more product as well.

Is it wise to keep extra shampoo on hand?

Yes. Having extra product available is often practical.

It prevents you from running out during cleaning. Stopping halfway can be inconvenient and may affect an even result.

Extra shampoo is also useful for:

  • a second cleaning session
  • local touch-ups
  • maintenance later in the season

Want to arrange everything at once?

If you plan to clean and then protect your fabric, Ultramar maintenance bundles are a practical option. These bundles combine the correct products for all steps and are often more cost-effective than buying items separately.

Do not be too economical during cleaning. Using enough product ensures an even and clearly visible result. Choosing a slightly larger packaging size is usually wiser than ordering the exact minimum.

In short

For smaller surfaces, 1 litre is often enough. For tents or larger fabrics, 2.5 litres or 5 litres is the better choice. Consider higher usage for older or heavily soiled fabrics and make sure you do not run out during cleaning.

Ultramar helps consumers clean, maintain and protect boat covers, tents, convertible roofs, plastic windows and other outdoor materials themselves, using PFAS-free maintenance products that are easy to use at home and based on a proven three-step maintenance process.
