IN 3 SIMPLE STEPS
Step 1
Clean Your Tent
Ultramar Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo removes everyday dirt and organic contamination from tent fabric.
Preparation
- Rinse with lukewarm water.
- Remove loose dirt with a soft brush.
Cleaning
- Apply to wet fabric.
- Gently brush in.
- Leave for approx. 20 minutes.
Rinse
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Allow to dry completely before moving to step 2.
Step 3
Reproof and Waterproof Your Tent
After cleaning, it is essential to reproof your tent. Waterproofing restores the protective water-repellent layer and prevents moisture from penetrating the fabric.
For polyester or synthetic tents
Use Sprayhood & Tent Protector.
For canvas or cotton tents
Use Canvas & Cotton Protector, specially developed for natural fibres.
- Apply evenly to clean, dry fabric.
- Saturate the material thoroughly.
- Allow to dry completely before packing away.
After treatment, water will bead and roll off the fabric again.
Everything You Need in One Bundle
Ultramar works with a clear 3-step maintenance system: clean, treat stains (if necessary) and waterproof.
Our maintenance bundles combine the right products for your tent type and are often more cost-effective than buying products separately.
With a bundle, you have enough product for a full treatment and usually some left for future maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I clean and waterproof my tent?
Generally once or twice per season, depending on usage and weather exposure.
Do I need to waterproof my tent after cleaning?
Yes. Cleaning can reduce the water-repellent coating, so reproofing is recommended.
Can I clean my tent with a pressure washer?
No. High pressure can damage the fabric and seams.
How do I know when my tent needs reproofing?
If water no longer beads on the surface but soaks into the fabric, it’s time to reproof.
Does waterproofing protect against mould?
It helps prevent moisture retention, which reduces the risk of mould growth.
