Ultramar Power Cleaner – Volgorde & combinatie met andere Ultramar producten

Do you want to know what to do before and after using Ultramar Power Cleaner? Below you’ll find exactly how this product fits into the Ultramar 3-step maintenance system and which products to combine for the best result.

Why do I use Power Cleaner after Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo?

Power Cleaner is step 2: Stain Removal.

Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo (step 1: Cleaning) removes general dirt such as dust, sand and surface contamination. After this basic cleaning, you can clearly see which areas need extra attention.

You use Power Cleaner specifically for:

  • deeply embedded stains
  • stubborn contamination
  • difficult-to-remove discoloration
  • heavy contamination

By cleaning first and then treating only the remaining problem areas, you work more effectively and avoid unnecessary product use.

Can I skip Power Cleaner if the fabric is not heavily soiled?

Yes.

If the fabric looks clean and even after using Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo, you do not need Power Cleaner. It is designed for specific problem areas, not for full standard cleaning.

Not sure? Always clean first. Only use Power Cleaner if visible stains or discoloration remain after step 1.

Do I always need to reproof after using Power Cleaner?

Yes.

After step 1 (Cleaning) and step 2 (Stain Removal), the fabric is clean but also “open.” The original protective layer has been reduced or removed.

Without renewed protection:

  • the fabric absorbs water more quickly
  • dirt adheres faster
  • the material wears out sooner

Step 3 – Protection – is therefore essential for long-lasting results.

Which Ultramar protector should I use after Power Cleaner?

This depends on the material:

  • Synthetic fabrics (polyester, acrylic, blended fabrics): Sprayhood & Tent Protector
  • Cotton or canvas: Canvas & Cotton Protector

Always determine the material first. Never use impregnating products on plastic windows. For those, use the dedicated Ultramar plastic window products.

Why does impregnating work better after deep cleaning?

A protector bonds best to clean fibers.

If deeply embedded stains or heavy contamination remain:

  • the protector may absorb unevenly
  • protection can become patchy
  • durability may decrease

Thorough cleaning and targeted stain removal ensure the protective layer is absorbed evenly and performs as intended.

The Ultramar 3-Step System in the correct order

  1. Cleaning – Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo
  2. Stain Removal – Power Cleaner (if needed)
  3. Protection – the appropriate Ultramar Protector

Skipping a necessary step can affect both the final result and the durability of the protection.

Want to do it right in one go?

If you want the best and most complete result, Ultramar offers convenient maintenance bundles with the correct product combination.

Bundles are often more economical than buying products separately. Use enough product and avoid being too economical. Running out halfway through treatment is inconvenient and can affect the final result. Choosing a slightly larger size is often a smart decision. Extra product is useful for future touch-ups and maintenance.

Quick decision guide

Use Power Cleaner only if stubborn stains or deeply embedded contamination remain after standard cleaning. Always follow the fixed order: clean, remove stains if necessary, then protect with the appropriate Ultramar Protector.

Ultramar helps consumers clean, maintain and protect boat covers, tents, convertible tops, plastic windows and other outdoor materials themselves with PFAS-free maintenance products that are easy to use and designed for home use, based on a proven three-step maintenance process.
