WHY DOES THIS WORK?
WHY DOES THIS WORK?
Sprayhood & Tent Protector is specially developed for synthetic outdoor fabrics exposed to weather, dirt, and daily wear.
Think of boat covers, convertible tops, and tent fabrics tested daily by rain, UV rays, bird droppings, and green deposits.
What makes this spray different from regular waterproofing products:
Penetrates deeper into the fibers
For stronger, longer-lasting protection – even in heavy rain or strong sunlight.
Allows the fabric to breathe
Prevents suffocation of the material and helps retain its natural texture and color.
Reduces the risk of dirt, water, and buildup
The repellent layer helps prevent sand, algae, bird droppings, and moisture from sticking. This lowers the chance of mold and green growth.
Proven effective
Recommended by sailmakers and outdoor professionals. Used in over 500,000 treatments.
With this product, you give your outdoor fabric a layer of professional-grade protection – without compromising safety or sustainability.
HOW TO USE THIS PRODUCT?
HOW TO USE THIS PRODUCT?
For best results, follow these steps:
Step 1 – Make sure the fabric is clean
Always rinse off dirt and dust with water first. For optimal results, clean the fabric beforehand with Ultramar Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo or Power Cleaner. Then let it dry completely.
Step 2 – Apply the product generously
Spray evenly onto the dry fabric. Make sure the surface is well saturated. Use a soft brush if needed to work the protector deeper into the material.
Step 3 – Let the fabric dry for at least 24 hours
Allow the treated fabric to air dry. Sunlight and warmth are no problem – they actually enhance the effectiveness of the impregnation.
Step 4 – Need extra protection? Apply a second layer
For older or more delicate fabric, we recommend applying a second layer after the first has dried.
Not suitable for cotton fabrics.
Use our Canvas & Cotton Protector instead.
HOW MUCH DO YOU NEED?
HOW MUCH DO YOU NEED?
Usage depends on the age, thickness, and quality of the fabric. Older or heavily weathered fabrics absorb more.
Average usage per application:
Awning (polyester): 2.5 – 5 litres
Convertible roof: ± 2.5 litres
Boat cover (sloop): ± 2.5 litres
Small sprayhood: ± 1 litre
For best results:
Apply the protector generously on clean and dry fabric
Impregnate multiple times in a row for a strong water-beading effect
The fabric is saturated when it no longer absorbs liquid
Note: Older, dull, or dried-out fabrics may require an extra layer for optimal protection.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to dilute the impregnation agent?
No, this product is ready to use. You don’t need to dilute it – in fact, diluting it will reduce its effectiveness.
Can I apply this in the sun?
Yes. Sun and warmth actually enhance the effect of the impregnation agent. Just make sure your fabric is clean and dry before you start.
How do I know if I’ve applied enough?
The fabric should be well saturated, but not dripping. Feel free to apply two coats – this improves protection and creates a stronger beading effect.
Does this work on cotton?
No. For cotton, we recommend our Canvas & Cotton Protector. This Sprayhood & Tent Protector is specially developed for polyester, acrylic, and synthetic outdoor fabrics.
Can I use this indoors (e.g., in a shed)?
Yes, as long as the area is well ventilated. Drying time may be longer than outside in sun and wind.
Do I need to clean the fabric first?
Yes. The product adheres best to clean fabric. Ideally, use Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo (and Power Cleaner for heavy dirt).
How long does it take to dry after application?
Allow the fabric to dry for at least 24 hours. Longer is always fine. Sun and warmth will speed up the process.
How long does the protection last?
Under normal use, your fabric stays protected for 3 to 6 months. We recommend reapplying 1 to 2 times per year – or after any deep cleaning.
Is this safe for my plants, pets, or the environment?
Yes. This product is completely PFAS-free and safe for people, animals, and nature. Feel free to use it at the campsite or in your garden.
